Sensei Thomas Evans 4th Degree Black Belt Chief Instructor at USA Karate, Rhode Island
has trained under Hanshi Larry, Shihan Angelo, Shihan Jon, and the other masters of the system for over 20 years. Sensei Tom started training in the martial arts at age four and has been actively training his whole life. He currently holds black belts in four different systems and the highest being a 4th degree black belt in Sullivan’s American Kenpo. Sensei Tom continues to train under USA Karate’s founder Hanshi Larry Sullivan. Sensei Tom was ranked number one by the New England Karate Commission in the year of 2000 for Jr. Black Belt sparring, forms, and self defense and is well known for his tournament background. Sensei Tom worked diligently developing a strong competition team within the Lincoln school that competed both in and outside tournaments, and now does so here in N. Providence for those students who are interested in TEAM UNITED. Sensei Tom has a level four instructor certification from the USA Karate systems which is one step below a master instructor. He has been an influential positive role model for children and adults of all ages in the Martial Arts community.
Sensei Tom graduated from the University of Rhode Island with his bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies in May of 2011. He Currently is an Academic Advisor with the College Crusade of Rhode Island at William E. Tolman High School in Pawtucket RI. Sensei Tom previously worked as a case worker for the DCYF affiliate KEY PROGRAM INC., where he helped troubled youth find other forms of assisted living. Sensei Tom has competed in various amateur kickboxing/ Thai Boxing and MMA events. He is now a professional fighter. He believes that by staying in the game, it will help his students to reach their maximum potential.
